The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes that equal access to assistive technology enables people with disabilities to more successfully participate in the labor market. This has societal, economic, and\u00a0individual benefits.<\/p>\n

- Dignified<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

How to Access Funds for Assistive Technology<\/h2>\n
<\/p>\n
When it comes to funding\u00a0for AT, the professionals\u00a0at ALSO have lots to share. We’ve been working with\u00a0teams to complete AT referrals and assessments covered by insurance. Oregon residents have additional\u00a0resources,\u00a0\u00a0including the Oregon Office of Disability Services (ODDS) and the K-plan.<\/p>\n
To access ODDS funding (up to $5,000 annually for AT and $500 for specialized medical equipment), people need a letter from a relevant professional that documents how the item(s):<\/p>\n
\n- Addresses a specific need,<\/li>\n
- Directly benefits the individual,<\/li>\n
- Enhances independence, and\/or,<\/li>\n
- How it reduces needs for direct human support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
When applicable, a letter of denial from your health insurance provider would also be needed.<\/p>\n
Once funding is approved, we assist with training and set-up so that everyone knows how to use the new technology and maintain it over time.<\/p>\n
